Applied Commercial Web Development (Diploma II + 3 to 12 month Internship)

Note: While students may choose to complete their studies after the first term of Internship placement (Term 5 of our overall program), they may pursue an additional 3 terms of Internship (Terms 6, 7, and 8) if they wish to continue their professional development within one of IAM`s partner web development houses. Students participating in these additional terms may continue their program to a total of 24 months.
*Pre-requisite: Diploma II - Diploma in Integrated Commercial Web Development.
IAM offers an innovative program in which Applied Diploma Program students are required to participate in an internship prior to graduation. In this way, they gain professional experience in addition to their vocational training credentials. This real-life commercial development experience is central to both the curriculum and to the mission of the Institute.
Internships benefit both students and employers. Employers value experience and are impressed by applicants who have demonstrated that they are ready for the work force. They may look to their interns when hiring for permanent positions. Directly or indirectly, internship opportunities lead students to employment opportunities.
An internship is an educational employment experience that allows students the opportunity to practice what they have learned during their training. Internships give students the chance to evaluate their chosen industry and the kind of career they are moving toward. For many students, obtaining appropriate skills for a career is challenging. Internships helps students understand how their growing skill sets are applied in real world situations. These positions also offer them an industry awareness that classrooms alone cannot provide. Further, internship experiences help students assess their abilities in depth so that they can better understand what it takes to be successful in their field.

Important Note: The Internet development industry is fast-paced and constantly evolving. Therefore, the IAM program is in a process of constant improvement and modification. Due to this, there may be slight variations in the individual components of study on a term by term basis. However, the total number of curricular hours remains the same at 300 hours per term.
